I was reading an article published on Sherdog about the one-year death anniversary of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of the retired undisputed and undefeated UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and came across some awesome quotes:
Speaking about his father's death, Khabib stated: "This event increased my conviction [yaqeen] that nothing in this world belongs to us, neither our children, nor our parents, nor our property. All we have is temporary." Is this not a reference to the famous verse of the Quran: "Know that your possessions and children are only a test, and that Allah - with Him is great reward." [Quran, 8:28]
Furthermore, Khabib stated: "Everything belongs to Allah alone and to Him will be our return, tie your hearts to Allah, stay more alone with Him, because the time will come and we will all be put in a grave, where we will be alone, where our friends, relatives, property and our connections will not be, only our deeds and report."
Hopefully our practicing Muslims in sport and media can continue to spread the word!
